Patpong is what I like to refer to as "A Beginner's Red Light District" in Bangkok. Is that a bad thing? Of course not. It is just as easy to find bar girls, lady-boys or gay overnight companionship as it is in Nana and Soi Cowboy in Patpong. Ask any frequent visitors to Bangkok's naughty nightlife and they will most likely tell you that this is the first the first place where they dip their toes into Bangkok's go go bars.
A major reason for that is because Patpong is largely commercialized due to the fact that is labeled as an official "Entertainment Zone" by the Thai government. Another reason is the largely popular Night Market filled with male and female tourist of all ages wandering through the stalls, which makes it quite easy for any shy first time visitors to blend in with the regular tourist crowds.

Sex Shows - Where to Find Them
Patpong is very well known for entertainment shows with displays of various sex acts and tricks. These types of establishments are located on Patpong 1, usually on the second floor next to go go bars. Don't worry about finding one if you're interested. Dozens of touts are employed to get you in. They will usually hold a menu like the one pictured to the right. Are these shows worth your money? No it is not. I've heard stories of people getting ripped off by being overcharged. Personally I've never encountered this problem whenever a persistent friend wants to see one. In any case I suggest you skip it. What about the Blow Job bars? Like sex shows, I recommend you should skip it. The ladies working in such bars were probably former bar girls on the last leg of their career.
